Wild Beast Feast

A church in Shreveport, LA holds a Wild Beast Feast every year and last night, Rowdy took the kids for their 3rd(?) time. Two years ago, the speaker was Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander. Dalton wants to be just like him when he's grown. In fact, he already carries a pocket Bible with him everywhere and quotes the Commander frequently. Last night the speaker was Moon Griffon, the Voice of Louisiana. Look him up. I don't know much about him, other than that my family enjoys his speaking.

I digress. The question was asked of me, "What did the kids eat?" Here is my reply. Please note that I warned my family to brace themselves. Perhaps you should, too.

Tana had coon, hog, 'gator, and quail, fish & rice.
Dalton had coon, possum, hog, gator, duck gumbo, gumbo w/wood duck, squirrel, elk & hog, rabbit jambalaya, axis deer, deer chili, moose stew, & rice.
Tana had one plate, while Dalton and Dylan (T-Bone's grandson) had two plates and three bowls each! He says they didn't have room for fish, french fries, or hush puppies.

The coon was barbecued and they liked it. Dalton said he was surprised that he liked the possum. I don't know how they cooked it, but apparently the whole possum was presented, sharp, pointy teeth and all. The only negative comment was that the gator was ho hum, which disappointed them because they usually love it.

Remember the warning to brace yourselves? I'm telling you, this was a FEAST. Here's Rachel's reaction:
I know you warned me to brace myself, but I didn't brace enough. I fell out of my computer chair anyway! Made a hole in the floor and hit the dirt under the house. Then I crawled and clawed my way back up to see if I had read that wrong. :D

Goat Cloth

Okay, this is my first attempt at intarsia, one method of knitting with two colors. It was pretty messy on the back and I had holes that I had to sew closed, so I knitted a striped square and attached it to the back of the goat with single crochet.
